Goals

Protecting and promoting human rights

To receive complaints, investigate and coordinate pressure on the violators to find remedies for those complaints.
To provide legal aid to the displaced in the NorthEast and detainees in prisons and other detention centers.
To coordinate with internal and international human rights institutions for the protection and promotion of human rights.

Educating about human rights

To act as a source of human rights information for the people.
To create public awareness and educate public opinion on human rights and respect for human rights in the NorthEast.
To disseminate knowledge on human rights--especially to school children--about childrens' rights and to women about womens' rights, and to give special attention to promote and protect their rights.
To conduct seminars and other awareness programs for police, judiciary, and military units operating in the NorthEast

Providing expert advice

To advise on any questions regarding human rights matters referred to us by the authorities of the NorthEast.
To study and keep under review the status of legislation, judicial decisions and administrative arrangements for the promotion of human rights and to prepare and submit reports on these matters to the appropriate authorities and agencies.
